The 23rd Annual Manatee Festival in Crystal River blew into town today, along with temperatures in the 30's, light snowflakes and sleet pellets.

Even so, all that couldn't stop Citrus County residents, as they literally braved the elements and attended the festival on Citrus Avenue anyway.

The Manatee Festival promises festival-goers fine art, live entertainment and children's activities. It also gives visitors the opportunity to view the manatee in its own environment. Boat tours will be offered for a small charge and will take visitors out on the Kings Bay.

The festival, which ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, will continue tomorrow, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance fee is $2 for guests 12 and older.

The festival is sponsored by the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Crystal River and the Rotary Club of Crystal River.
