The Citrus County Central Landfill will host an Eagle Watch at 2:30
p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 and again at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 20,
2010.
The public is invited to attend. Pre-registration is not
necessary, and participants with all levels of birding skills are
welcome.
Birders will be able to listen to a short presentation by Darrell
Snedecor of the Citrus County Audubon Society about bald eagles before
the tour.
The birding trail is hard packed dirt and vehicles must be used.
Car-pooling will be encouraged. Bring binoculars or scopes. There
will be several stops at vantage points where eagles, vultures, gulls,
and other birds may be observed. Participants will also be able to
observe the landfill disposal area.
An employee will be on hand to answer questions about the landfill. For information, call 527-7670.
