A Friday afternoon fire consumed a Homosassa home at 2065 S. Moonlight Point. There were no injuries. Firefighters were called at 3:48 p.m. to the home of Dave and Doris Prather, and it took 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. According to the fire report, the fire was located behind the walls an in the attic of the 1,600-square-foot manufactured home, making it difficult for fire crews to reach. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical appliance in the bedroom of the home. One of the owners was home at the time of the fire, but was not in the inside the home when the fire started. The home was insured. The home was 90 percent damaged, and damages are estimated at $70,000. |
