David Joseph HarrisonA second suspect has been arrested by Citrus County deputies in connection with a vehicle burglary in Crystal River.

In that burglary, the 23-year-old vehicle owner was pistol whipped and robbed at gunpoint.

Arrested for that crime on Nov. 22 was Robert Derek Berstein, 24, of 11195 West Cedar Lake Drive, Crystal River. His accomplice in that crime got away during a short chase of the getaway car.

The CCSO says the accomplice was David Joseph Harrison, 24, of 3362 N. Amphibian Point, Crystal River. He was arrested on Saturday an outstanding warrant. Among the charges he faces are robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery using a deadly weapon and armed burglary.

Harrison's bond has been set at $85,000.

Berstein, who is under an $87,000 bond, and Harrison are charged with the Nov. 22 burglary of a Crystal River man who was at the home of a friend at about 11 p.m.. When the victim went out to retrieve something from his vehicle, he saw Berstein in the front seat, he told deputies, taking a GPS and iPod Touch.

The victim recognized Berstein, and Berstein, who exited the vehicle waving a gun, is said to have called to Harrison, "Get him." At that point, Harrison is said to have come from to side of the house waving a shotgun and smacked the victim in the back of the head, which sent the victim to the ground.

While he and Harrison and Berstein were beating the victim with their weapons, Berstein is said to have demanded the victim's money. When he gave  Harrison and Berstein the money he had on him, the beating stopped. That gave the victim the chance to crawl to the vehicle and start it up.

Berstein and Harrison are said to have reached into the vehicle as the victim was trying to get away, still looking for cash. Eventually, Berstein and Harrison left in their own car, a 1994 Cadillac.

Deputies caught up with Berstein, but Harrison was not with him when Berstein was arrested. The victim knew who the accomplice was, the arrest report for Berstein says, and told deputies he had seen both Harrison and Berstein in the Cadillac regularly.
